Who are The Striking Viking Story Pirates?
The Striking Viking Story Pirates was founded in 2003 by a group of recent Nortwestern graduates who were saddened by the discrepancy between the arts-rich environments of our childhoods and situations faced in many under-resourced public schools. What began as a 12-member company has evolved into a New York City institution - a "theatrical treasure" proclaims the New York Times.

What happens at a Stiking Viking Story Pirates Performance?
Kids loan us their written works - everything from comics to novella to a couple of barely legible sentences - and we turn those stories into a play with puppets and costumes and professional actors. We invite kids to see what they have written become big, noisy and real, and we watch as, one after another, these kids begin to call themselves writers!
